History
As long as I can remember, I’ve been an ameutar artist, inspired by my aunt as a youth to draw and ink and color between the lines. This inspiration for art and expression of drawing , painting, and drafting lead to the idea; develop my desire and craft for drawing, painting, drafting, inking, and coloring from an ameuter level to an independent design entrepreneurial artist’s studio level. That is where the name for the company, Act1idea Studio came from. However, there’s not as much call for the pencil and pen craft of arts these days as one would think, so much of it is going digital. That brings up the question: how could I express my desire for the arts in a digital venue without much skill in the digital world, at a commercial level? With this question, came the wonderful world of digital art. The only problem was, I had no knowledge of the ways of the digital art world.
One of my first experiences was as stage designer for a theater arts production. Stage designing and a software program named Key Cad 2D-3D was the beginning of my digital drafting, back in the early 90’s. This program was excellent for digital design of sets and props, but did little for presentation on the web, so a teacher, from way back - he he, not that far back, the late 90’s - introduced me to web design and development, in the form of a two program suite and a desktop computer . At the time, the software was produced by Macromedia with the name Fireworks3, a graphic building program, and Dreamweaver3, at the time, an html template builder and ftp server program. So started the learning. Learning about the building blocks of the computer, like how to turn it on and off, to the basic understandings of its components of its hardware, software, and its basic language. Trust me, it seemed like rocket science and had to be shelved.
